Well, I have been looking at Lovies/Security Blankets. I did two owls. Then I tried a bear. mine did not turn out as pretty as the picture. But when at first you do not succeed, make something else. I started to look for something else. Then decided to try to make my own pattern. I really wanted a dog anyway. So a DOG it is. I used some of the ideas for my dog head from the bear (from Connie Hughes Designs) and the ears (from Recrafters), added a basic granny square, and a dog collar; then whoa-la,
a Dog. I may change the neck again. I still think it is too long. Tell me what you think. Till next time, Desiree' Materials used: Red Heart Yarn in Light Blue & Light Green (for dog head & ears) Red Heart Yarn in Black, White (for eyes, nose, collar) Red Heart Yarn in color of your choice for blanket Needle & Matching Thread Poly-Fill Hook Sizes: I, F, C To make the Dog head with an F hook and Light Blue yarn: Chain2 Row 1: Work 6SC in the second ST from the hook. Row 2: 2SC in each ST, around-12STS. Row 3: 1SC in the next, 2SC in the next ST around-18STS. Row 4: 1SC in 2, 2SC in the next ST, around-24STS. Row 5: 1SC in 3 STS, 2SC in the next, around-30STS. Row 6: 1SC in 4 STS, 2SC in the next ST, around-36STS. Row 7: 1SC in 5, 2SC in the next, around-42STS. Rows 8-19: 1SC in each ST, around-42STS. Row 20: 1SC in 2 STS, dec1, around-28STS. Row 21: 1SC, dec1 all the way around. To make 2 eyes with a C hook and black and white yarn: Form a Magic Ring with black yarn, 6SC in ring, close ring, SL ST in first SC, FO. Attach white yarn with a SL ST in SC, SC over SC (pull through center of ring then finish SC), SL ST around, join with SL ST, FO. Sew eyes between rows 9 and 10 with needle and matching thread. (If using safety eyes and put them in and position them around row 10.) Continue to row 22 changing to I hook. Row 22: Stuff and continue to dec your STS, until closed. Row 23-25: Chain 2, Repeat rows 1 through 3 of the head-18STS. Row 26-28: 1SC in each ST, around-18STS. Row 29: Chain 2, DC next 2 ST, chain 3, skip next SC, (DC next 3ST, chain 3. skip next SC) 3 times, SL ST in top of chain 2, SL ST to chain 3 space. Row 30-41: Remaining is done in the BASIC GRANNY SQUARE pattern. This basic granny square is made with clusters of 3 DC. The first cluster always starts with a chain 3, and follows up with 2 DC (The chain 3 acts as a DC). Between every cluster there is a chain 1, except on the corners, in the corner there are 3 chains. Continue making rounds with clusters until you reach 12 rounds Row 42: Make a last (13th) round: SL ST to chain 3 space, chain 3, 5 DC, *(HDC next DC, 3 DC in next DC, HDC in next DC, SC) around to last 'chain1, cluster, chain 3 space', HDC next DC, 3 DC in next DC HDC in next DC, 6DC in chain 3 space, HDC NEXT DC, 3DC, HDC, SC; repeat from * 3 times. Repeat () around to last chain1, cluster, HDC, 3 DC in next DC, HDC, SL ST in bottom of starting chain 3. Finish off and work away the loose ends of the yarns at the back. To make the 2 ears with an F hook: Outside of Ears, blue Chain 6, HDC in 2nd chain from hook, HDC across, chain 1, turn (5HDC). Row 2-6: HDC across (5HDC), chain 1, turn. Row 7: HDC decrease, HDC, HDC decrease, continue to SC around and when you get to the top make two HDC decrease right before SL ST to join, FO. Note: It helps to make 2 SC in each bottom corner. Inside of Ear, light green: Chain 4, HDC in 2nd chain from hook, HDC across, chain 1, Turn (3HDC). Row 2-5: HDC across (3HDC), chain 1, turn. At the end of Row 5, continue to SC around and when you get to the top make two HDC decrease right before SL ST to join, FO. Note: It helps to make 2 SC in each bottom corner. Sew the inside ear to the outside ear being careful to sew only on the inside stitch so the yarn doesn't show through the outer ear. Sew to the top of head on row 3. To make the Black collar with an F hook Make a chain long enough to go around the neck area, SL ST to join in first chain. Chain 2; Work 1DC into each chain space, all the way around, SL ST in top of first DC, chain2. Work 1DC in each chain ST around and FO. Leave tail to attach to neck. Attach collar around neck. To make the muzzle with an F hook Chain2 Row 1: Work 6SC in the second ST from the hook. Row 2: 2SC in each chain ST around-12STS. Row 3: 2SC in the next 2 STS, 1SC in the next, 2SC, 1SC in next 2STS, 2SC in 2, 1SC in the next 4STS. Row 4: 1SC in 2, 2SC in the next 2, 1SC in the next 2 STS, 2SC in 2, 1SC in 3, 2SC in the next 2 STS, 1SC in 4 STS. Row 5: 1SC in each chain ST, around. Row 6: Work 1SC in each chain ST, 1SL ST and FO. Sew part to the face area, Stuff very lightly sew the rest of the way. To make the little black nose with a C or D hook Chain5 Row1: 1SC in 2nd chain from hook, and each STS, chain1 & turn. Row 2: 1SC in each chain ST, chain1 & turn. Row 3: Dec1, 1SC, dec1, chain1 & turn. Row 4: Dec1, 1SC, chain1 & turn. Row 5: Dec1 and FO. Sew on muzzle. This crochet pattern was designed after making several boot cuffs from patterns I found on Pinterest. I loved all the ones I made, but could not find a Granny Square design boot cuff. This crochet pattern uses a rib stitch design and the Granny stitch. You can wear either design, it looks great no mater how you wear it. These cozy boot cuffs are a perfect cold weather companion. They are sure to be your favorite new winter wear item to compliment your favorite boots by adding texture without the bulk of socks.
The stitches used are easy and give it a nice texture. So let us get started. * This crochet pattern is written in Standard American Terms. * The pattern uses worsted weight yarn ( size 4 medium) * The pattern uses hook G (4.25mm) Ribbed Granny Boot Cuffs Materials: 1. Worsted weight ( size 4 medium) yarn 2. Hook – G (4.25mm) Gauge Using G hook, 17 sc rows worked in back loops = 4 inches Size Finished size: 12.5 inches around and 6.5 inches high. Stitch Explanation Work in Back loops or Front loops only: to work into back loops only or front loops only. When making a regular stitch the hook is inserted under both loops, but inserted only in to one of the loops. In case you are working into back loop only, insert in the back of the loop only or if you are working front loop only, insert in the front of the loop only. Pattern Make 2 for a pair. With G hook chain 11. Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd chain from hook and each chain across. Turn.-------------10 sc Row 2: Working in back loops only, ch 1 ( not counted as a st) , 1 sc in back loop of the same st as ch 1, 1 sc in back loop of next 9 stitches. Turn.----------------- 10 sc Repeat Row 2 till your work measures 12 ½ inches. Do not stretch your band while measuring. Now slip stitch the two shorter ends together inserting your hook through the front loops of the stitches on your last row and the free loops on the very first row to form a circular band. See Stitch explanation for working in front loops. I got 27 ridges in the band including the ridge formed by slip stitching the ends together. Now the rest of the boot cuff will be worked in the round. Round 1: Ch 1( does not count as a st), proceed to work a round of sc all around the band , making 1 sc in each sc row end ( one in each ridge and trough). Sl st to the first sc. Do not turn. --------- 54 sc Round 2: Ch 3 ( counts as first dc), dc in next 2 sc, skip 2 st, *(dc in next 3 st, ch 2, skip 2 st), repeat from * till end of the round. You would have reached the beginning ch 3, join the top of the chain 3, do not turn.---------------- 9(dc in next 3 st, ch 2, skip 2 st). Round 3: Ch 5,( counts as first dc, and ch 2) skip 2dc,*(dc in next 3 dc, ch 2, skip 2 st), repeat from * 8 times, dc in next 2dc. You would have reached the beginning ch 5, join the third ch 3, do not turn.---------------- 9(dc in next 3 dc, ch 2, skip 2 st).. Round 4: Ch 3 ( counts as first dc), dc in next 2 dc, skip 2 st, *(dc in next 3 dc, ch 2, skip 2 st), repeat from * till end of the round. You would have reached the beginning ch 3, join the top of the chain 3, do not turn.---------------- 9(dc in next 3 dc, ch 2, skip 2 st). Repeat round 3 and 4 and 3 ( your work is should be 4 inches high including the ribbed band). Last Round: Ch 1, regular sc around, sl st in beginning ch 1. Fasten off. Finishing Weave in any tails left. |
